PDA Account, Scan Settings, and Printer

1. Scenario

Use Me to verify the current account and warehouse, select the Ship working mode, configure how the PDA receives hardware scans, and connect a Brother, Zebra, or GPrinter label printer.

Use 【Scan Settings】 when a hardware scan produces no result, a barcode value cannot be read, or a new PDA model uses a different scanner-broadcast configuration.

Prerequisites

1. Prefer a maintained Scan Scheme. For a custom configuration, obtain Broadcast Action and Data Tag from the device administrator or manufacturer documentation.
2. Pair a Bluetooth printer in Android settings first.
3. Connect a WiFi printer and the PDA to the same network.
4. Power on the printer and load labels correctly.
5. The PDA has no USB port and cannot connect to a printer directly, so only Bluetooth- or WiFi-capable models work. Models integrated and verified so far:
   • Zebra ZD621 Barcode Printers (Bluetooth and WiFi)
   • Brother QL-1110NWB
   • GPrinter 1324D (203dpi) / 1134T (300dpi, WiFi version only)

2. Steps

2.1 Check account and warehouse

1. Open GWMS PDA-Me.
2. Check Username, User ID, Warehouse, Warehouse ID, Department, Tenant ID, and Client ID.
3. Tap 【Log Out】 to return to sign-in when switching accounts.

The PDA uses the account's default warehouse and does not provide a manual warehouse switch.

2.2 Set Order-Based Outbound Mode

1. Find 【App Settings】 on Me.
2. Select or clear 【Order-Based Outbound Mode】.
3. Restart the app when prompted.

• Off: Ship shows the wave list.
• On: Ship shows an order list queried by invoice or order number.

2.3 Open Scan Settings

1. Go to GWMS PDA-Me-App Settings.
2. Tap 【Scan Settings】. Its summary shows 【Not configured】, 【Custom】, or the applied scan-scheme name.
3. Check 【Device Information】 and choose a 【Configuration Mode】:
   • 【Scan Scheme】: choose a system-maintained configuration for a supported PDA manufacturer and model.
   • 【Custom Broadcast Config】: manually enter the Broadcast Action and Data Tag used by a device that is not covered by the scheme list.

2.4 Select a Scan Scheme

1. Tap 【Scan Scheme】 on Scan Settings.
2. The page loads available schemes. A scheme matching the current PDA is marked 【Recommended】 and appears first.
3. Tap the matching scheme. The page shows 【Applied: [scheme name]】 and marks the selected row.
4. Scan a test barcode in 【Scan Receipt Test】.
5. Confirm that the test area shows 【Listening: ...】 and 【Barcode: ...】. Tap 【Clear】 before another test when required.

Applying a scheme clears the previous custom configuration and makes the selected scheme effective immediately.

2.5 Use Custom Broadcast Config

1. Obtain the device's Broadcast Action and Data Tag from the PDA administrator or manufacturer documentation. Do not copy values from an unrelated device.
2. Tap 【Custom Broadcast Config】 on Scan Settings.
3. Enter 【Broadcast Action】 and 【Data Tag】, then tap 【Save】. Both fields must be filled together; otherwise the page reports 【Both Broadcast Action and Data Tag are required】.
4. After 【Scan settings saved.】 appears, scan a test barcode in 【Scan Receipt Test】.
5. A successful test shows the listening action and 【Barcode: ...】. If the page reports that no barcode was found, check the displayed extras, identify the field carrying the barcode, and correct Data Tag.
6. To remove the custom configuration, clear both fields and tap 【Save】. The page shows 【Custom config cleared】.

Custom Broadcast Config takes priority over a selected Scan Scheme. After clearing it, the PDA falls back to the saved scheme when available; otherwise it uses the device's default scanning method.

2.6 Connect a label printer

1. Find 【Label Printer Settings】 on Me.
2. Select Brother, Zebra, or GPrinter.
3. Select a paired Bluetooth device or discover a WiFi printer on the same network.
4. Verify brand, model, connection method, and address/Bluetooth MAC.
5. Tap 【Test】. Continue to production printing only after the test label succeeds.
6. Tap 【Forget】 to disconnect the current printer.

Result: Scan Receipt Test displays the correct barcode; Me displays the connected printer and a test label prints successfully.

3. Notes

• Bluetooth pairing is completed in Android settings before device selection in GWMS PDA.
• A WiFi printer may need to be rediscovered after changing networks.
• Outbound-mode changes take effect after an app restart.
• Prefer a scheme marked 【Recommended】, then verify it in 【Scan Receipt Test】 before returning to an operation page.
• Custom Broadcast Config is intended for devices not covered by the scheme list. Obtain Broadcast Action and Data Tag from the device settings or manufacturer documentation.
• Warehouse labels are usually printed from PDF; the printer receives the page as a rasterized bitmap, so print speed is limited by data-transfer speed. Measured reference (4x6 inch label, button press to print complete):
  • Zebra ZD621 (300dpi, WiFi): about 2 seconds.
  • Brother QL-1110NWB (300dpi, Bluetooth): about 1 second to transfer, 1.5-2 seconds end to end; WiFi is faster, usually under 1.5 seconds.
  • GPrinter 1324D (203dpi, Bluetooth): about 2-4 seconds; WiFi is faster.
  • GPrinter 1134T (300dpi, Bluetooth): limited by its Bluetooth chip's transfer rate to about 20 seconds, essentially unusable — always use the WiFi version.
  • 203dpi prints faster, but some labels are screenshots embedded in a PDF; at 203dpi they can print blurry and hard to scan, so a warehouse may still need a 300dpi model.

4. FAQ

Q1: Why can the PDA not find the printer?

A1: Pair Bluetooth devices in Android first. Keep WiFi printers on the same network as the PDA and confirm power is on.

Q2: What should I do when test printing fails?

A2: Verify the displayed brand, model, and address, then check paper, power, and network. Forget and reconnect the printer if needed.

Q3: Why did Ship change to an order list?

A3: Order-Based Outbound Mode is enabled. Clear it under GWMS PDA-Me-App Settings and restart the app.

Q4: What should I do when hardware scans produce no result?

A4: Go to GWMS PDA-Me-App Settings-Scan Settings, select a 【Recommended】 scheme, and run 【Scan Receipt Test】. If no scheme matches, obtain Broadcast Action and Data Tag from the device administrator and use Custom Broadcast Config.

Q5: Why does the test receive a message but show no barcode?

A5: Broadcast Action may be correct while Data Tag is wrong. Check the extras in the test log, identify the field that contains the barcode, update Data Tag, save, and test again.

Q6: Why must Broadcast Action and Data Tag be entered together?

A6: The PDA needs Broadcast Action to receive the scan message and Data Tag to extract the barcode. Fill both fields, or clear both and save to remove the custom configuration.
