Add a Product in GWMS
Updated: 2026-04-13
1. Scenario
A product is the parent record for one or more SKUs. Customer users create a product first, then create specific SKUs under that product for receiving, inventory, outbound, and stock count operations.
Use this guide when a new product line or product series needs to be created in GWMS. If the product already exists and you only need to add a specific color, size, or package version, continue with Add SKU.
2. Operation Guide
Prerequisites
Confirm the following before creating a product:
- Your customer account can access
GWMS-Product Management-Product. - The product name is ready.
- If your company has a product naming rule, confirm the name before saving to avoid later cleanup.
2.1 Open the Product page
Menu path: GWMS-Product Management-Product
- Sign in to GWMS.
- Expand
Product Managementin the left navigation. - Click
Product. - Confirm that the page shows the 【Add】 button.
2.2 Open the Add dialog
Click 【Add】 on the product list page.
GWMS opens the product creation dialog.
2.3 Enter product information
Enter the product name in 【Product Name】. GWMS generates the SPU code automatically.
2.4 Submit and check the result
Click 【Confirm】 after checking the product name.
After saving, GWMS closes the dialog and returns to the product list. Search by product name or product code and confirm that the new product appears in the list.
Result: The product record is created. You can continue to Add SKU under this product.
3. Notes
3.1 Relationship between Product and SKU
In GWMS, a product is the parent record, and SKU is the specific stock keeping unit.
Example:
- Product:
Men's Running Shoes - SKU:
Men's Running Shoes - Red - Size 42
Create the product first so that later SKUs have a clear parent product.
3.2 When to use batch import
If this is the first setup or there are many products and SKUs, use the import template described in Initial Setup instead of creating records one by one.
4. FAQ
Q1: Can products be imported in bulk?
A1: Yes. For first-time setup or large data migration, use the SKU import template. The template can include SPU/product information together with SKU information.
Q2: Do I need to add a product before adding a SKU?
A2: Yes. A SKU needs to belong to a product record. If the product is missing, create the product first, then add the SKU.
Q3: What should I check after creating a product?
A3: Search the product list and confirm the product name and generated product code. Use that product when creating SKUs later.
