Add a SKU

1. Scenario

A SKU identifies a specific color, size, bundle, or package variant under a product. After the SKU is saved, GWMS generates a GSKU. Inbound, inventory, outbound, stock count, and label printing use these codes to identify the item.

Use this guide when:

• The product exists and a specific SKU needs to be created.
• Multiple variants require separate inventory or outbound packaging rules.
• The item contains batteries, is a dangerous good, supports bundled shipment, or requires serial number management.

If the product name is missing, see Add a Product. For a large number of records, use Import on the SKU page.

2. Instructions

Prerequisites

1. Your account can open GWMS-Product Management-SKU, and the page shows Add.
2. The product has been created in GWMS-Product Management-Product.
3. SKU, SKU-CN, SKU-EN, outbound packaging, and package dimensions are ready.
4. For battery products, prepare the battery type, parameters, MSDS, transportation report, and validity information.

2.1 Open the SKU page

Menu path: GWMS-Product Management-SKU

Search existing records before adding a SKU. The page supports SKU, SKU-CN, SKU-EN, UPC, FN SKU, GSKU, Custom Code, Status, and Creation Time filters.

1. Product Management-SKU: opens the SKU list.
2. Search area: enter conditions and search for existing records. You can also reset the conditions or configure the displayed filters.
3. Actions: add, edit, delete, export, import, or print SKU labels. Edit, Delete, and Print remain disabled until a record is selected.
4. SKU list: shows the product image, product information, package dimensions, measured warehouse dimensions, product status, value, creation time, and available row actions.

2.2 Open the Add dialog

Click Add. GWMS opens the Add SKU dialog.

1. Product Image: uploads a product image.
2. Required basic information: select Product Name, enter SKU, SKU-CN, and SKU-EN, and select outbound packaging.
3. Optional codes: enter UPC, FNSKU, and Custom Code when applicable.
4. Package Dimensions: enter metric and imperial length, width, height, and weight.
5. Confirm and Cancel: submit the SKU, or close the dialog without saving.

2.3 Enter basic information

Complete the fields shown on the page:

1. Product Image: optional; supports png/jpg/jpeg, up to 5MB.
2. Product Name: required; select an existing product.
3. SKU: required; use letters, numbers, and hyphens only, up to 40 characters.
4. SKU-CN and SKU-EN: required Chinese and English SKU names, up to 255 characters each.
5. Outbound Packaging: required; select no packaging, bag, or box according to the operation requirement.
6. UPC, FNSKU, and Custom Code: optional. UPC must be numeric and cannot start with 0.

2.4 Enter dimensions, value, and serial number management

Package Dimensions records the length, width, height, and weight after packaging. The metric row uses CM/KG, and the imperial row uses IN/LB. After one side is entered, the page converts the other side automatically. Confirm that the metric values are complete before saving.

For Value, select $ or ￥, then enter the item value.

Serial Number Management options are:

• Not required.
• Required for outbound.
• Required for inbound and outbound.

2.5 Set product attributes

The lower part of the dialog contains switches for battery, dangerous goods, and bundled shipment.

When battery is enabled, complete the required battery type, voltage, capacity, energy, MSDS, transportation report, and validity information. Add supplier, package percentage, and UL information when applicable.

3. Validity and suppliers: enter battery validity; add battery supplier, packaging-material supplier, and package percentage when applicable.
4. UL information: add UL certification, issuing organization, and UL number when applicable.
5. Confirm and Cancel: submit the SKU, or close the dialog without saving.

2.6 Save and check the result

1. Click Confirm.
2. Return to the list and search for the new SKU.
3. Check SKU, SKU-CN, SKU-EN, package dimensions, and value.
4. Confirm that GWMS generated a GSKU.
5. Check Product Status. An Enable record can be used according to your permissions. If it is Pending, wait for approval.

Result: the SKU is created and can be found in the SKU list.

3. Notes

3.1 GWMS generates GSKU

Do not enter GSKU in the Add dialog. GWMS generates it after saving and displays it in the list.

3.2 Enter packaged dimensions

Package dimensions can affect later operations and charges. Enter the dimensions and weight after packaging, not the bare product dimensions.

3.3 Confirm packaging and serial number requirements

Outbound packaging affects packing operations. Serial number management determines whether serial numbers are recorded during inbound or outbound operations. Confirm both before saving.

4. FAQ

Q1: Why can't I find the product name?

A1: Create the product in GWMS-Product Management-Product, save it, then return to the SKU page.

Q2: Why does GWMS say that SKU or UPC already exists?

A2: Search the list for the code. The same account cannot reuse a SKU. UPC must be numeric and cannot start with 0; leave it blank when it is not required.

Q3: Why can't I submit after enabling battery?

A3: Check the required battery type, voltage, capacity, energy, MSDS, transportation report, and validity information.

Q4: Why is the new SKU Pending?

A4: The SKU requires approval for the current account. Wait until the status changes to Enable before continuing with operations restricted by status.
