Mark Exceptions During Secondary Sorting in GWMS

1. Scenario

Exception marking is used during GWMS-Outbound Management-Secondary Sorting when staff need to record a problem on an order card before completing the wave.

Use this when an order needs manual follow-up because of insufficient stock, damaged SKU, missing items, barcode problems, or other on-site issues.

2. Steps

Prerequisites

  • Your account can access secondary sorting.
  • The target wave has loaded order cards.
  • The order that needs handling is visible in one of the bins.
  • Staff have confirmed that the exception belongs to this order.

2.1 Locate the order card

Go to GWMS-Outbound Management-Secondary Sorting, select the warehouse, and scan the wave number.

Find the target order card and click 【Mark Exception】.

2.2 Enter the exception reason

GWMS opens the exception dialog. Check the bin number and order number first.

You can select a quick reason or type the reason manually.

Quick reasons and manual text can be used together. The reason must not be empty.

2.3 Confirm the exception

Click 【Confirm】.

After confirmation, the order card shows the exception state.

The card uses a warning style and displays the exception reason so that later users can identify the order quickly.

2.4 Clear the exception if needed

If the reason was entered incorrectly or the issue has been resolved, open the same dialog again and click 【Clear Exception】.

GWMS removes the exception style and reason from the current card.

3. Notes

3.1 When the exception is saved

The reason appears immediately on the sorting page. The wave still needs to be submitted with 【Complete All】 to save the final sorting result.

3.2 How to write useful reasons

Use concrete reasons such as stock short by 1, outer box damaged, or barcode unreadable. Avoid vague text such as problem.

3.3 What clearing affects

Clearing an exception affects only the current order card. It does not delete other sorting records in the wave.

Q1: Why can't I see 【Mark Exception】?

A1: Make sure the wave has loaded order cards and the target bin is not empty.

Q2: Do I have to use a quick reason?

A2: No. You can use a quick reason, type a reason manually, or use both.

Q3: Why does clicking 【Confirm】 not submit?

A3: Check whether the exception reason is empty. GWMS requires a reason before saving the exception.

Q4: Does clearing an exception make the bin unfinished again?

A4: No. Clearing removes the warning style and reason. Check the on-site result again before submitting the whole wave.
