Put Away Inbound Goods in GWMS
1. Scenario
Putaway is used after inbound goods have been received. The warehouse assigns received SKUs to storage locations so that inventory can be queried and used for later outbound operations.
This guide is for warehouse operators handling inbound orders that have completed receiving. It uses SKU putaway as the example. If goods are moved by full box, use the full-box putaway mode on the same page.
2. Steps
Prerequisites
- Your account can access
GWMS-Inbound Management-Inbound Forecast. - Your account has putaway permission.
- The target inbound order has been reviewed and received.
- Target storage locations have been created in GWMS.
- If one SKU needs to be split across multiple locations, confirm the quantity for each location before submitting.
- To find an item quickly on the putaway page, search by SKU, product name, or GSKU.
- If the site uses a scanner, receiving transaction number, or box number to locate tasks, open
GWMS-Inbound Management-Scan Putawayfirst, then continue to the putaway page.
2.1 Open the order to be put away
Go to GWMS-Inbound Management-Inbound Forecast.
Find the order to process. Orders that are ready for putaway show the 【Put Away】 action.
If the site uses a scanner, you can also go directly to GWMS-Inbound Management-Scan Putaway and scan or enter the inbound order number, receiving transaction number, or box number. After GWMS finds received goods, check inbound order number, customer, warehouse, receiving progress, and scanning type, then click 【Start Putaway】 to open the same putaway page.
If GWMS cannot find a receiving record, the order or box may not have been received yet. Complete receiving before putaway.
2.2 Select SKU rows
After clicking 【Put Away】, GWMS opens the SKU Shelving Management page. The top area displays the inbound order number, customer, warehouse, and status. The main area is used for SKU shelving.
Select the SKU rows that you want to process in this submission.
The page shows how many SKUs are selected and the total quantity available for shelving.
2.3 Enter target location and putaway quantity
Enter the 【Target Location】 for the selected SKU. Use the actual warehouse location code, such as A1-01-01-01-01.
Enter the quantity that will be put away to that location.
If the same SKU needs to be split into multiple locations, use 【Add Storage Location】 on the row and enter each location and quantity separately.
2.4 Submit batch shelving
After checking the selected rows, target locations, and quantities, click 【Batch Shelving】.
After submission:
- SKU shelving succeeds and GWMS shows a success prompt.
- Full-case shelving succeeds and GWMS shows a success prompt.
- The page refreshes the current list.
If only part of the quantity is put away, the inbound order becomes 【Partially Put Away】. After all quantity is put away, the order becomes 【Fully Put Away】.
3. Notes
3.1 Where to check results
Use GWMS-Inbound Management-Putaway Records to check submitted putaway details. Search by inbound order number, SKU/GSKU, location, or putaway time. You can also return to the inbound forecast list to verify the order status.
3.2 Status changes
- 【Fully Received】 means the order has finished receiving and can be put away.
- SKU rows not yet put away show unfinished status on the putaway page.
- Partial submission changes the order to 【Partially Put Away】.
- Completing all quantity changes the order to 【Fully Put Away】.
3.3 Multiple-location putaway
If one SKU is stored in multiple locations, split the quantity into multiple location rows. Do not write the total quantity into one location if the goods are physically stored in different locations.
3.4 Page validation
GWMS validates the following before submission:
- At least one SKU or box must be selected.
- Putaway quantity must be a positive integer.
- Selected SKUs or boxes must have target locations.
- Putaway quantity cannot exceed the available quantity.
3.5 Putaway sheet and detail review
If the site needs a paper task sheet, use 【Print Put Away List】 from the 【More】 menu on the inbound forecast list. Choose the print mode according to the actual operation method, such as by box or by SKU.
After putaway is complete, use 【Putaway Records】 to trace where a SKU was stored. To check receiving differences and pending putaway quantity together, open the inbound order details and view 【Receiving / Putaway Status】.
For location, quantity, box number, and operator tracing, refer to the Putaway Records guide. For put away list printing, refer to the Print Inbound Operation Documents guide.
