Manage Picking Waves

1. Scenario

Wave Management is the central page for waves created during Wave Creation. It shows quantities, progress, and operational statuses, and provides actions for printing picking lists, merging shipping labels, assigning pickers, shipping, and canceling waves.

Use this page to find a wave, open its picking details, assign a picker, print an A4 picking list, merge its labels, ship eligible waves, or cancel waves that have not shipped. If no wave exists yet, go to GWMS-Outbound Management-Wave Creation and create one first.

2. Steps

Prerequisites

1. Your account can access GWMS-Outbound Management-Wave Management.
2. Your account has the required permission for 【Ship】 or 【Cancel】 when using those actions.
3. For paper picking lists, the computer has a printer and the browser can open its print dialog.

2.1 Search and review waves

1. Go to GWMS-Outbound Management-Wave Management.
2. Set filters as needed: 【Warehouse】, 【Wave No.】, 【Picking Method】, 【Outbound Status】, 【Label Status】, 【Picking Status】, 【Carrier】, 【Picker】, 【Remarks】, and 【Created At】.
3. Click 【Search】.

The list shows Warehouse Code, Wave No., Picking Method, Quantity, Carrier, Picker, Remarks, Creation Info, Progress, and Status. Quantity combines order count, SKU item count, and location count. Progress shows labeling and review progress. Status combines picking, labeling, review, loading, and outbound statuses.

Use the settings control in the filter area to choose visible filters. Use the settings control above the list to choose visible columns.

2.2 Open order and picking details

Click a 【Wave No.】 to open its order details and check orders, SKUs, locations, and required picking quantities. Use the copy icon beside the number to copy it; GWMS prompts 【Copied successfully】.

2.3 Assign a picker

1. Select 【Warehouse】 in the filter area.
2. Select one or more waves and click 【Set Picker】.
3. Select 【Picker】 and click 【Confirm】.

GWMS prompts 【Please select a warehouse first】 if no warehouse is selected. Picker is required and its options come from the selected warehouse. After saving, GWMS prompts 【Set successfully】 and refreshes the list.

2.4 Print picking lists

1. Select one or more waves.
2. Click 【Print Picking List】.
3. GWMS displays 【Generating print content...】 and opens the browser print dialog.
4. Confirm the printer, copies, and A4 paper settings, then print.

Without a selection, action buttons are disabled. A valid request ends with 【Print request sent】; an error shows 【Print failed】. When multiple waves are selected, each wave is added as a separate page in the same print task.

The A4 picking list contains the wave barcode, page number, order count, SKU count, location count, picker, carrier, print time, remarks, and Location/GSKU/SKU Name/Quantity details. Missing picker and remarks are shown as Unassigned and None.

2.5 Merge shipping labels

1. Select one wave.
2. Click 【Merge and Print Labels】.
3. GWMS shows the merged count, total count, percentage, and task status.
4. When merging succeeds, downloading starts automatically.

This action currently processes only the first selected wave. Process multiple waves one at a time. If the task fails, GWMS displays the task error; if no download address is returned, it reports that no label download link was obtained.

2.6 Cancel waves

1. Select the waves and click 【Cancel】.
2. Confirm the cancellation prompt.
3. GWMS reports success and refreshes the list.

Only Not Shipped waves can be canceled. If any order in a wave has shipped, GWMS blocks cancellation. After cancellation, the orders return to Not Waved and can be included in a new wave.

3. Notes

3.1 Picking methods

• 【Pick by SKU】: consolidates picking by SKU and location.
• 【Secondary Sorting】: requires order-level sorting after consolidated picking.
• 【Pick by Order】: organizes work by order and is used by Stock Transit and Container Redistribution.

3.2 Status and progress

• Picking: Not Picked, Picking, Picked.
• Labeling: Not Labeled, Labeling, Labeled.
• Review: Not Reviewed, Reviewing, Reviewed.
• Loading: Not Loaded, Loading, Loaded.
• Outbound: Not Shipped, Partially Shipped, Shipped, Canceled.

Check both progress and outbound status before shipping or canceling a wave.

3.3 Batch-action scope

Print Picking List, Set Picker, Ship, and Cancel support multiple selections. Merge and Print Labels currently processes one wave at a time.

4. FAQ

Q1: Why are the action buttons disabled?

A1: Select at least one wave. Batch-action buttons remain disabled without a selection.

Q2: Why does Set Picker ask me to select a warehouse first?

A2: Picker options are loaded by warehouse. Select Warehouse, select the waves again, and retry.

Q3: Why can't I cancel a wave?

A3: Only a Not Shipped wave can be canceled. If any order has shipped, GWMS does not return its orders to Wave Creation.

Q4: Why did some waves fail in a batch shipment?

A4: Check the failed rows in Outbound Result, then review picking, secondary-sorting, or review progress for those waves.

Q5: Why does the print page show the picker as Unassigned?

A5: No picker has been set. Assign a picker on this page and print again.

Q6: Why were labels downloaded for only one selected wave?

A6: Merge and Print Labels currently processes only the first selected wave. Select and process one wave at a time.
