Review Inventory Analysis Center

1. Scenario

Inventory Analysis Center analyzes the structure and health of current inventory: what the inventory consists of, which aging tiers hold the backlog, which SKUs face stockout or slow-moving risk, and which customer owns them.

Use this page when:

  1. You want to know how much of total inventory is available, awaiting outbound, defective, or in transit.
  2. You want to identify which aging tier the backlog concentrates in and decide whether to push customers to clear it.
  3. You want to find SKUs that are out of stock, low in stock, or have not moved for a long time, so you can remind customers to replenish or handle them.
  4. You want to drill down by customer, warehouse, or SKU to locate who the problem inventory belongs to.

Do not use this page when:

  1. You need the transaction details of one inventory movement. Use the inventory log pages instead.
  2. You want to adjust inventory quantity or start a stock transfer directly. This page is analysis only; use the inventory management pages for operations.
  3. You want an inventory snapshot of a past day. This page analyzes current inventory.
  4. You want to reconcile storage fees on an invoice. Inventory quantity here follows a different scope than billing.

2. Operation Guide

Prerequisites

Confirm the following before you start:

  1. Your account can access GWMS-Report-Inventory Analysis Center.
  2. Current on-hand inventory records already exist.
  3. You know which warehouses and customers you want to analyze. By default, all accessible warehouses and customers are counted.

Handling flow

  1. Open the page and read the inventory composition and risk metric cards at the top.
  2. Select warehouses, customers, or a quick filter to narrow down to the problem inventory you care about.
  3. Review the aging distribution and judge which tier holds the backlog.
  4. Keep filtering the SKU list by movement, availability, or aging status and drill down to locate the owner.

2.1 Open the page and set filters

Menu path: GWMS-Report-Inventory Analysis Center

The page provides these filters and quick entries:

FilterDescription
WarehouseFilter by warehouse. When empty, all warehouses you can access are counted.
CustomerFilter by customer. When empty, inventory of all customers is counted.
Movement StatusActive, low movement, no movement 30 days, no movement 60 days, no movement 90 days, new product observation, insufficient data.
Availability StatusOut of stock, low stock, normal, overstock, severe overstock, cannot calculate.
Aging StatusNormal aging, high aging, overdue, severely overdue.
Outbound WindowLast 7, 15, or 30 days, used to calculate movement and days of supply.

Quick filters at the top narrow the list to one problem type with a single click: out of stock, low stock, high stockout risk, no movement, high aging, overstock.

2.2 Review inventory composition and risk

The metric cards at the top are organized into six groups: total inventory, defective inventory, awaiting outbound, available inventory, inbound in transit, and inventory risk. Each group shows quantity, volume, and SKU count.

2.3 Review aging distribution and drill down

Aging distribution aggregates current available inventory into aging buckets. You can switch between quantity and volume to see which aging tier holds the backlog.

Click an aging bucket in the chart and the SKU list below is filtered by that bucket's aging status, giving you the backlog SKU list directly so you can follow up by customer.

2.4 Adjust analysis rules

The SKU list provides a rule configuration entry where you can adjust aging tiers and movement thresholds, for example the starting days for high aging, overdue, and severely overdue. Click 【Apply】 to recalculate, or 【Restore Defaults】 to return to system defaults.

Changing rules only affects the analysis on this page. It does not change inventory data in the system.

3. Notes

3.1 Inventory composition rules

RuleDescription
Total inventorySum of current book on-hand quantity across all warehouses and SKUs.
Defective inventorySum of defective and rejected inventory.
Awaiting outboundSum of inventory locked by documents.
Available inventoryCurrent inventory − awaiting outbound − defective inventory; counted as 0 if the result is below 0.
Inbound in transitSum of in-transit inventory not yet received.
Aging distributionAggregates current available inventory only; excludes awaiting outbound, defective, and in-transit inventory.

3.2 Aging tiers

Aging is calculated from the earliest inbound batch of a SKU, not from the average inbound time. Default tiers:

Aging bucketAging status
0-30 daysNormal aging
31-60 daysNormal aging
61-90 daysNormal aging
91-180 daysHigh aging
181-365 daysOverdue
Over 365 daysSeverely overdue

The three thresholds default to 90, 180, and 365 days and can be changed in rule configuration. After a change, aging statuses and the high-aging SKU count change accordingly.

3.3 Risk metric definitions

MetricDescription
Out-of-Stock SKUsSKUs with available inventory at or below 0 that still had valid outbound activity in the last 30 days.
Low-Stock SKUsSKUs with days of supply at or below 15 days.
High Stockout Risk SKUsSKUs with days of supply at or below 30 days.
30-Day No-Movement SKUsSKUs whose movement status is "no movement 30 days".
High-Aging SKUsSKUs whose aging status is not "normal aging".

High-aging SKUs covers all three tiers of high aging, overdue, and severely overdue, so its count is usually larger than the SKU count of any single bucket in the distribution chart.

3.4 Differences from other pages

Different pages may use aging buckets of different granularity. This page always uses six buckets. If another page shows a different number of aging buckets, confirm each page's bucketing before comparing numbers, and do not add the two pages' figures together or reconcile one against the other.

4. FAQ

Q1: Why is the total of the aging distribution lower than total inventory?

Aging distribution counts current available inventory only and excludes inventory awaiting outbound, defective inventory, and in-transit inventory. Check "3.1 Inventory composition rules".

Q2: Why is a SKU's aging higher than I expected?

Aging is calculated from the SKU's earliest inbound batch. As long as the oldest batch has not been shipped out, aging keeps accumulating even if newer batches were received later.

Q3: Does changing the aging threshold affect inventory or billing in the system?

No. Rule configuration only changes the analysis scope and judgment on this page. It does not change inventory data or affect billing.

Q4: The high-aging SKU count does not match a bucket in the chart. Is that an error?

No. High-aging SKUs counts every SKU whose aging status is not "normal aging", covering high aging, overdue, and severely overdue, while each bucket in the distribution chart counts only the available inventory in that bucket.

Q5: Can I break the backlog down by customer?

Yes. Use the 【Customer】 filter or a quick filter to narrow the scope, then drill down with aging status and the distribution chart to locate the backlog SKUs of a specific customer.
